Animals and Society Institute - There is a link between acts of cruelty to animals and violence toward humans

Animals and Society Institute - There is a link between acts of cruelty to animals and violence toward humans

Pet DNA and CSI

This is great news. With animal cruelty a felony in most states, the more sophisticated the science becomes the more likely and reliable the convictions. Hope this encourages more law enforcement communities to take animal cruelty cases seriously.
In MA we have made great strides in that direction.

AVOID USDA Licensed Dog Breeders

USDA regulates AGRICULTURE. You are seeking a family pet, a pup raised in a loving environment from the beginning. Properly socialized and prepared to live in a home. The first few weeks of a puppy's life a critically important in personality development. AVOID puppy farm/mill raised pups.
PupQuest explains on our puppy farm page.

PETA explains in this great graphic.

Victory! Animal Dealer's Owner, Manager Arrested on Hundreds of Felony Charges! | PETA.org

Let's support pet supply stores that DO NOT SELL any live animals.
Ferret, rodent, avian, reptiles, etc SUFFER in their "mills" as much as puppies do. Why is it that we don't seem to care? Even the largest humane organizations use and promote huge corporations that exploit animals. WHY?

Coming to Your Town Soon—The Rising Animosity To Dogs (and Their People) | The Bark

Great article!
When I walk my large dog, he wants to greet everyone. He can't understand why some people walk by us as if he doesn't exist! I understand and I respect the fact that not everyone wants to meet him. Not everyone trusts dogs, not everyone wants shedding fur on their clothes and not everyone has to be invaded by my dog.

If you are taking your dogs places please keep them under control. Irresponsible owners are causing this Rise in Animosity to Dogs.

Call them puppy mills, puppy farms or commercial breeders  these places supply pet stores and are selling directly to consumers on the Internet. Visit PupQuest.org to learn how to avoid them.

Tennessee Walking Horse Barn Raided, Trainer Charged

I remember the first time I went to the BIG E in Springfield, MA. The first thing we saw as we entered the gates was an elephant ride. Yup, kids climbing onto an elephant's back for a walk around the area. Having spent a lot of time in Africa and not being a fan of captive wildlife, my heart broke.

Then we went to the horseshow. Full disclosure, I am a horseback rider, I have been riding since I was so young I have no memory of not being able to ride. The classes running at the time we entered the indoor arena were the BIG LICK saddleseat classes. I stood at the rail wanting to get a closer look at these horses, their oversized hooves, distorted fetlocks and pasterns, broken set tails, etc. My already broken heart started to bleed. The abuse and exploitation of these horses and the fact that they are rewarded in this riding discipline with blue ribbons is shameful.

Standing there so close to these magnificent animals it occured to me, I would rather be that elephant. A Sophie's choice indeed.

Thanks, Nevada!

No breed specific laws for the state of Nevada!! Good for them. This is the only way we will ever get a handle on truly dangerous dogs. They must be evaluated individually not based on breed.

Rex Trailer, host of ‘Boomtown’ TV show, dies at 84

PupQuest is truly saddened by this news. Rex was a friend not only to children with disabilities but to animals as well. His wife Cindy was a role model for PupQuest growing up, showing great compassion toward animals and promoting spay/neuter before it was popular.
Rex used to call me his second daughter and I loved him. His endless positive attitude was something I always admired. He loved his work, loved his students and loved his family and friends. Our hearts are with his family at this time and we know he and Cindy are together again.
As Rex used to sing to me when I was a little girl......"I love you a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and hug around the neck........"
Rest in Peace.
